Ever since I was a very young child, people have readily confided in me. My best friend in preschool had what I later learned was elective mutism, which means she would only talk to very select people. I was the only person at preschool she would talk to! So, it was pretty clear from early on that I belong in this field.
I earned a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling early in my professional life, and I proceeded to work in the field of disability services for over 20 years. More recently, I was able to fulfill my lifelong dream of obtaining a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, with a concentration in Neuropsychology. I completed an internship in substance abuse counseling, and post-doctoral training in both college mental health services and equine facilitated psychotherapy. Since then, I have been in private practice, serving a wide variety of individuals, couples and families, with issues that cover the spectrum.
As a survivor of domestic violence myself, I have developed a strong interest and subsequent expertise in the area of emotional and narcissistic abuse. The damage that can be caused by these abusers’ reign of tyranny can be very difficult to heal, and it is not something victims should attempt alone.
Whatever it is that you are struggling with, Waldo and I are here for you. I look forward to meeting you!
